About the wine team
After successful careers in high tech, Robert (Bob) Campbell and Pearl Cheng bring technical mindsets combined with love of expression and fun to their enjoyment of wine, wine advising and wine-making. Bob graduated with an electrical engineering degree and developed personal computers and applications at Hewlett-Packard for over 30 years. He was a tech manager incorporating new technology, human factors, and anticipating computing needs of the future. Pearl holds degrees in Biomedical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering and worked at NASA. She was a project manager and executive manager overseeing scientific research on the space shuttle and space station, exploring the effects of microgravity on living systems. They raised their family in Silicon Valley. Both fell in love with the beauty, hard work ethic, and agricultural diversity of Sonoma County, California where they own property, which is surrounded by some of the most significant vineyards in the region. Having developed collegial relationships with neighbors and nearby growers has afforded them the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and expertise of winemaking. On weekends you can usually find Bob and Pearl enjoying locally grown produce, delicious food options, a variety of wines, and gathering and sharing with good friends. That is, when they are not traveling to distant lands to explore food and wine around the world.
Sonoma County terroir is very compatible with many Italian varietals. For whites we love Vermentino, Fiano, and Vernaccia. Our favorite reds include Dolcetto, Nebbiolo, and of course, Primitivo.
